12 MONTHS
This mini-series was created in parallel with the work on A WALK IN THE DARK, dedicated to the circus, to explore the characters in more detail.
Each eye belongs to a hero and refers to a month, personifying it and as if it is peeping. Anomalies in anatomy are a reference to Polycoria, a rare feature of the eye. At first glance, a repulsive phenomenon, but such a metamorphosis is reminiscent of the versatility of the world, capable of a constant change of form.
Such unique transformations, looking not from this reality, are like superpowers. As if this is a reflection of a moment in history when familiar is gone and the very survival of the species is threatened.
But it is also the doubt that permeates science and art of our time.
Through these works, I reflected on the evolution of man, their possible internal changes and how they will experience the world, perhaps in the near future.
The paintings was presented at the solo show ‘A Walk In The Dark’ in Moscow in 2019.
Every painting is framed in wooden frames, hand-crafted in the ancient Japanese technique of shou sugi ban (charred). The frame is complemented by glass and a 3-step mount boards made of black foam cardboard.
Size on the outside of the frame: 300 X 300 X 30 mm
